seasons

fare thee well my bright star
here is the point where i shed my innocence
whether shell or shelter,
i have no further use of it.

we walk together now,
hands amiably outstretched,
but when we get to the edge-
the proverbial "roads diverged"-
we must either jump, or fall,
relying only on our own arms
to catch us.

the days i leave behind,
a brief, brilliant miracle dive.
the experiences built the
personality,
which my body drags into
a new scope of independence.

how soft my heart becomes
when i think of the summers
and winters we've had.
we all wish that summer could last
forever.
but this strange season of pain
will come to pass-
as we move on, knowing that
the most important things we learned
where those we learned from
one another.
